Effect of sequential education on blood glucose metabolism in patients with type 2 DM in community
Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of sequential education on blood glucose metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM)in community. Methods:68 diabetic patients were divided into the experimental group and the control group(34 cases in each group). The patients in the control group were given routine health education on diabetes and the sequential health education was adopted in the experimental group. The change of the patient's level of diabetes - related knowledge, self - management ability and the indexes of blood glucose metabolism was compared between the two groups before and after 6 months of education. Results:The scores of awareness of patient's knowledge about the disease and self - management ability were significantly higher and improved in the two groups after 6 months of education compared with those before education(P < 0. 01);the scores of awareness of patient's knowledge about the disease and self - management ability were significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group(P < 0. 05);the level of FBG and 2 h PBG were significantly improved after 6 months of education compared with that before education in the two groups(P < 0. 05,P < 0. 01);the level of FBG,2 h PBG and HbAlc was lower in the experimental group than the control group(P < 0. 05). Conclusion:The sequential health education can improve blood glucose metabolism in patients with type 2 DM.
