Application of comfort nursing in elderly patients with radical resection of esophageal cancer

Abstract：Objective:To explore the application method and effect of comfort nursing in elderly patients with radical resection of esoph-ageal cancer. Methods:74 elderly patients undergoing radical resection of esophageal cancer were randomly divided into the comfort nurs-ing group and the routine nursing group(37 cases in each group). The routine perioperative nursing care was given to the patients in the routine nursing group and the comfort nursing measures were provided for the patients in the comfort nursing group,the nursing effect was compared between the two groups. Results:The scores of QLQ-C30 and QLQ-OES18 were higher after nursing care than those before nursing care in the two groups(P﹤0. 05);the scores of QLQ-C30 and QLQ-OES18 were higher in the comfort nursing group than the routine nursing group after nursing care(P﹤0. 05);the incidence of postoperative complications and fatality rate within the period of fol-low-up was lower in the comfort nursing group than the routine nursing group(P﹤0. 05). Conclusion:Application of comfort nursing can improve the quality of life,reduce the complications and reduce the fatality rate of elderly patients with radical resection of esophageal cancer.
