Effect of public square dancing on blood glucose and the function of heart and lung in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mel itus
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of public square dancing on blood glucose and the function of heart and lung in elderly pa-tients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods:30 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes were randomly divided into the simple dancing group and combined dancing group (15 cases in each group).The patients in the two groups were evaluated by cardiopulmonary exercise test and the change of blood glucose and the function of heart and lung of the patients were compared between the two groups before and after 12 -week exercise.Results:After 12 weeks of exercise,the FBG,HbA1 c,FEV1 /FVC (FEV1 ),FEV1 and FEV1 /FVC,EDV,CO and FEV1 were im-proved compared with those before exercise in the two groups.Conclusion:The simple square dancing and combined square dancing can im-prove blood glucose and heart and lung function in patients with diabetes.Compared with the simple square dancing,the combined square dancing can effectively reduce blood glucose levels and improve heart and lung function in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.
