A study on the effect of intermittent pneumatic compression in the prevention of DVT of lower extremity in critical y il patients
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of intermittent pneumatic compression in the prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of lower extremity in critically ill patients. Methods:The data of 258 hospitalized critically ill patients in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.120 critically ill patients treated with the graded compression elastic stockings were taken as the control group;the other 138 pa-tients treated with intermittent pneumatic compression for the prevention of DVT were taken as the observation group. The Vp,Vm and BF of femoral vein and the incidence of DVT and pulmonary embolism were compared between the two groups before the intervention and on the 2nd,5th and 7th day after the intervention. Results:The Vp,Vm and BF of femoral vein on 5th and 7th day after the intervention were higher in the observation group than those in the control group (P <0.01);the incidence of DVT in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P <0.05).Conclusion:The intermittent pneumatic compression can promote blood circulation of lower limbs and effectively prevent the incidence of DVT of lower extremity in critically ill patients. The effect of intermittent pneumatic compression is bet-ter than that of graded compression elastic stockings in the prevention of DVT.
