Effect of three - level holistic nursing model on improving lung function and quality of life in elderly patients with COPD

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of three - level holistic nursing model on improving lung function and quality of life in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods:150 elderly patients with COPD were randomly divided into the intervention group and the control group(75 cases in each group). The routine nursing care was given to the patients in the control group and the three - level holistic nursing model was adopted in the intervention group. After 12 months of intervention,the lung function, the degree of difficulty in breathing,the quality of life and psychological status of the patients were compared between the two groups. Re-sults:The scores of lung function,the degree of difficulty in breathing,the quality of life and psychological status of the patients were supe-rior in the intervention group to those in the control group(P ﹤ 0. 01,P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusion:The three - level holistic nursing model can enhance the lung function of elderly patients with COPD,reduce the degree of difficulty in breathing so as to improve the quality of life of the patients.
