Effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on the self - care ability and quality of life of rectal cancer patients after Miles operation

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on the self - care ability and quality of life of rectal cancer patients after Miles operation. Methods:156 rectal cancer patients who underwent Miles operation were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group(78 cases in each group). The patients in the control group were given routine nursing care and the patients in the observation group were additionally provided comprehensive nursing intervention. After 6 months,the scores of self - care a-bility and quality of life of the patients,the incidence of complications and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Re-sults:The scores of patientˊs self - care ability were significantly higher after the intervention for 6 months than those before the intervention in the two groups and the scores of patientˊs self - care ability were higher in the observation group than the control group after the interven-tion(P < 0. 01);the scores of quality of life of the patients were significantly higher after the intervention than those before the intervention in the two groups and the scores were higher in the observation group than the control group after the intervention(P < 0. 01);the incidence of complications was significantly lower in the observation group than the control group(P < 0. 05);the satisfaction rate of the patients was significantly higher in the observation group than the control group after follow - up for 6 months(P < 0. 05). Conclusion:The comprehen-sive nursing intervention can effectively improve the quality of life and satisfaction rate of rectal cancer patients after Miles operation and reduce the incidence of complications as well.
