A study on the correlation between internal - external locus of control and quality of life in patients with intestinal stoma

Abstract:Objective:To explore the relationship between internal - external locus of control and quality of life in patients with intesti-nal stoma. Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate 98 patients with permanent intestinal stoma in our hospital by u-sing the general questionnaire and QLQ - C30. Results:The scores of internal locus of control of patients with permanent intestinal stoma were 18. 5 ± 8. 9 points;the scores of right in others were 27 ± 7. 8 points;the scores of quality of life were 47. 23 ± 18. 55 points;the scores of social function were 33. 50 ± 15. 68 points;the scores of role function were 35. 33 ± 25. 78 points;the scores of somatic function were 52. 30 ± 26. 20 points;the scores of emotional function were 64. 67 ± 18. 21 points;the scores of cognitive function were 65. 30 ± 19. 12 points. The internal locus of control was positively correlated with overall quality of life. Conclusion:The internal - external locus of control is closely related to the quality of life of patients with permanent intestinal stoma,and the quality of life of the patients is influenced by the level of education,economic status and personality.
