Effect of stress management intervention on mental status and quality of life in elderly patients with CHD

Abstract：Objective:To explore the effect of stress management intervention on mental status and quality of life in elderly patients with coronary heart disease ( CHD) . Methods:72 elderly patients with CHD were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group (36 cases in each group). The conventional nursing intervention was implemented in the control group and extra stress management intervention was adopted in the observation group. The mental status ( the scores of SAS and SDS) and quality of life ( SAQ scores) of the patients were compared between the two groups on admission and after discharge for 3 months. Results:The scores of SAS and SDS of the patients were superior in the observation group to the control group after discharge for 3 months(P<0. 05);the SAQ scores were signifi-cantly higher in the observation group than the control group(P<0. 05). Conclusion:The scientific stress management intervention can im-prove the psychological status and the quality of life of the patients.
