A qualitative study on psychological distress in cancer patients
Abstract：Objective:To explore the causes of psychological distress in cancer patients so as to lay the foundation for the development of the targeted interventions. Methods:12 cancer patients were selected and the semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted,the data of the interview were processed by using Claizzi analysis program. Results:3 subjects were extracted after analyzing the data:the physiologi-cal symptoms,the family,the social factors and the unmet demand for medical care. In the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients,they usually had such negative emotions as fear,worry,pessimism,anxiety and depression. Conclusion:The cancer patients' psychological prob-lems are the results of interaction of multiple factors,the medical personnel should understand the cause of psychological distress of cancer patients and develop the individualized nursing intervention measures to give the patients timely and appropriate guidance which can effec-tively reduce the level of their psychological distress and improve their treatment compliance and quality of life.
