Effect of the extended nursing care in the hospital on the quality of life of cancer patients with radiotherapy and chemotherapy

Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of the extended nursing care in the hospital on the quality of life of cancer patients with chemo-radiotherapy. Methods:82 patients with chemoradiotherapy were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group(41 cases in each group). The patients in the control group received routine nursing care and psychological nursing intervention;the patients in the ex-perimental group were given extended nursing care in the hospital based on the routine one. EORTC QLQ - C30 was used to conduct a ques-tionnaire survey to investigate and compare the quality of life of the patients between the two groups on admission and before discharge. Re-sults:There was statistically significant difference in the comparison of the scores of EORTC QLQ - C30 before discharge and on admission in the experimental group(P <0. 01);the comparison of the scores of EORTC QLQ - C30 before discharge and on admission was significantly different in the control group(P <0. 05);the difference in the comparison of the scores of EORTC QLQ - C30 before discharge was statisti-cally significant between the two groups(P <0. 01). Conclusion:The extended nursing care in the hospital can significantly improve the quali-ty of life of cancer patients with chemoradiotherapy.
