Effect of humanistic care on the anxiety of patients with depressive episode

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of humanistic care on the anxiety of patients with depressive episode.Methods:40 pa-tients with depressive episode associated with anxiety(from Sept.2013 to Jan.2014)were taken as the observation group;other 40 patients suffering from the same disease(from Apr.to Aug.2013)were taken as the control group.The humanistic care was adopted in the observa-tion group and the routine nursing care was taken in the control group.After observation for 8 weeks,the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA) was used to score the conditions of the patients and the scores were compared between the two groups.Results:The HAMA scores were low-er in the observation group than the control group(P<0.05);the total HAMA score decreased at the end of the first week in the two groups(P<0.05);the total HAMA score also decreased at the end of the 2nd,4th and 8th week(P<0.01).Conclusion:Implementation of the humanistic care based on the conventional medication and nursing care can reduce the anxiety level and promote the rehabilitation of patients with depressive episode associated with anxiety.
