Effect of blood glucose monitoring diary on self monitoring of blood glucose and self - care behavior of the newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of blood glucose monitoring diary on self monitoring of blood glucose and self - care be-havior of the newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:208 newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes were divided into the control group(n ﹦ 106)and the experimental group(n ﹦ 102)according to whether they kept the blood glucose monitoring diary or not. The patients in the control group were given the standardized health education;the patients in the experimental group were additionally required to keep the diary under the guidance of nurses based on the health education. The control of blood glucose and glycosylated hemo-globin value of the patients were compared between the two groups 3 months later after they were discharged from hospital and the self -care behavior of the patients was also compared after discharge for one month to 3 months. Results:The control of blood glucose,glycosylat-ed hemoglobin value and self - care behavior of the patients were superior in the experimental group to the control group(P < 0. 01). Con-clusion:The blood glucose monitoring diary can help the newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes effectively control blood glucose and improve their self - care behavior.
