Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of the extended nursing management on the postoperative life quality and compliance of the children undergoing surgery for congenital heart disease. Methods:48 children with congenital heart disease treated with surgery in our hos-pital were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group(24 cases in each group). The conventional nursing guidance was given to the children after they were discharged from hospital in the control group;the extended nursing management was provided for the discharged patients in the observation group. The postoperative quality of life of the children in both groups was assessed and scored by using health survey scale(SF-36)at discharge and after discharge for 6 months, the children's compliance of regularly return visit,medi-cation by following doctor's order, reasonable diet, reasonable exercise, reasonable rest etc. was observed in the two groups. Results:Com-pared with those at discharge, the total score of SF-36 and the score of each dimension after discharge for 6 months increased significantly in the observation group(P﹤0. 05),and the total score of SF-36 and the score of each dimension were higher in the observation group than those in the control group(P﹤0. 05);the children's compliance of regular return visit, medication by following doctor's order,reason-able diet, reasonable exercise, reasonable rest etc. was better in the observation group than that in the control group after discharge for 6 months, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P﹤0. 05). Conclusion:The extended nursing management for the discharged children with the surgery for congenital heart disease can improve their self-care ability and the quality of life and it is beneficial to the prognosis.
