Observation on the effect of nursing support in promoting natural childbirth
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of nursing support in promoting natural childbirth. Methods:400 parturients who would undergo vaginal delivery were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group(200 parturients in each group). The sup-portive nursing care was adopted in the observation group, including antenatal health education, confidence support, intrapartum respiratory adjustment training and instruction on awaiting delivery in free position;the moderate routine intervention during birth process was imple-mented in the control group. The total duration of labor, the incidence of intrauterine fetal distress and neonatal asphyxia, the volume of in-trapartum hemorrhage, the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage and the degree of comfort and satisfaction of parturient were compared be-tween the two groups. Results:The total duration of labor, the incidence of intrauterine fetal distress and neonatal asphyxia, the volume of intrapartum hemorrhage and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage was significantly shorter and less in the observation group than the control group(P<0. 05);the degree of comfort and satisfaction of parturient was significantly higher in the observation group than the control group(P<0. 05). Conclusion:The supportive nursing care can help to promote natural delivery, reduce the rate of cesarean section and incidence of fetal distress and neonatal asphyxia and can also improve maternal comfort and satisfaction.
