A study on the application of experiential learning in the early clinical experience of undergraduate nursing students
Abstract:Objective:To probe into the effect of application of experiential learning in the early clinical experience of undergraduate nursing students. Methods:152 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in 2011 were selected and taken as the object of study. They had 20-week experiential learning as the early clinical experience in the hospital and their ability of nursing care were assessed by using clinical care ability inventory,competence rating scale for nurse-patient communication and for health education. The change of their ability of nursing care was compared before and after the experiential learning. Results:The studentsˊclinical care ability,the nurse-patient commu-nication competence and health education competence improved and enhanced obviously after the experiential learning and the differences were statistically significant compared with those before the experiential learning(P<0. 05,P<0. 01). Conclusion:Application of the ex-periential learning method can improve the students’ability of nursing care so as to lay a good foundation for the coming clinical practice.
