Abstract：Objective:To explore the influence of psychological nursing care on the cognitive function of elderly patients with depres-sion. Methods:82 elderly patients with depression were randomly divided into the experimental group(n=42)and the control group(n=40). The patients in the control group were only given drug therapy and routine nursing care;the patients in the experimental group were additionally given the targeted psychological nursing care based on the measures in the control group and the duration of intervention was 8 weeks in both groups. The scoring by HAMD and WCST were conducted before and after treatment. Results:The HAMD score,the total tri-als administered of WCST and perseverative errors were lower after the treatment in the experimental group than those before the treatment and than the control group(P<0. 05). Conclusion:The targeted psychological nursing care is not only conducive to rehabilitation of the elderly patients with depression,but also to the improvement of the cognitive function of the patients.
