Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of pelvic muscle exercise in the prevention of postoperative retention of urine of patients with orthopedic surgery. Methods:100 patients who underwent orthopedic operation in our hospital were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group(50 cases in each group). The patients in the control group received routine nursing care and the patients in the observation group accepted extra strengthened pelvic muscle exercise. The incidence of postoperative urinary retention and the satis-faction rate of the patients were compared between the two groups. Results:The incidence of postoperative urinary retention, the proportion of sensation of bladder filling, automatic micturition and complete micturition of the patients were lower in the observation group than the control group(P〈0. 05);the bladder function of the patients was better in the observation group than the control group(P〈0. 05);the patientˊs satisfaction rate of nursing care was higher in the observation group than the control group(P〈0. 05). Conclusion:The pelvic muscle exercise has good effect in the prevention of postoperative urinary retention of patients with orthopedic operation and it can improve patientˊs satisfaction with nursing care as well as their bladder function.
