Abstract：Objective:To study the influence of strengthening health education on the quality of life of outpatients with gastroesophageal reflux disease( GERD). Methods:65 outpatients with GERD treated in gastroenterology clinic were divided into the observation group( n=34)and the control group(n =31)according to the odd and even number. The patients in the observation group were given the strengthened health education and guidance based on medication and the patients in the control group were given conventional health edu-cation. The relief of the symptoms and the improvement of self-management ability of the patients were compared before and after health education. Results:There were statistically significant differences in the comparison of the GerdQ score,item score,symptom score and the score of general character between the two groups after the intervention(P﹤0. 01). Conclusion:The outpatient health education can arouse the patient's sense of participation and improve their self-management level;meanwhile the symptoms of the patients can also be relieved through a series of health promotion.
