A study on the correIation between coping styIe and mentaI state of caregivers of patients with primary Iiver cancer
Abstract:Objective:To probe into the relationship between coping style and mental state of caregivers of patients with primary liver cancer. Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the coping style and mental state of 272 caregivers of patients with primary liver cancer and the correlation between them was analyzed. Results:The mean value of positive and negative coping style of the caregivers was significantly higher than the norm(P﹤0. 01);the scores of SAS and mean positive scores were significantly higher than the norm(P﹤0. 01);the mean negative scores were significantly lower than the norm(P﹤0. 01);the scores of SDS were significantly higher than the normal(P﹤0. 01);the family income and education level were negatively correlated with negative coping style(P﹤0. 05,P﹤0. 01);the total scores of SAS and SDS and positive scores showed positive correlation with negative coping style(P﹤0. 01). Conclusion:The coping style of caregivers of patients with primary liver cancer is negative and most of the caregivers are in the state of anxiety and de-pression,so the nursing staff should guide the caregivers to take healthy coping style.
