Effect of high quality nursing service on anxiety,depression and quality of life of patients with COPD

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of high quality nursing service on anxiety,depression and quality of life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease( COPD). Methods:178 COPD patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group(89 cases in each group). The patients in the control group were given conventional treatment and routine nursing care and the patients in the observation group were additionally provided high quality nursing service. The readmission rate,the status of follow-up, the scores of quality of life and mental status of the patients were compared between the two groups after hospital discharge for 3 months. Results:The readmission rate was lower in the observation group than the control group after hospital discharge for 3 months(P﹤0. 05);the follow-up rate was higher in the observation group than the control group(P﹤0. 01);after follow-up for 3 months,the differences in the comparison of the scores of quality of life and psychological conditions of the patients were statistically significant between the two groups(P﹤0. 05,P﹤0. 01). Conclusion:The high quality nursing service provided for COPD patients can significantly relieve the symp-toms of anxiety and depression of the patients and improve their quality of life.
