A study on the coping styIe of AIDS/HIV positive patients

Abstract:Objective:TostudythecopingstyleofAIDS/HIVpositivepatientsandaccuratelygraspthecopingcharacteristics.Methods:The questionnaire for general information and medical coping modes questionnaire( MCMQ)were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on 30 hospitalized AIDS/HIV positive patients. Results:The scores in dimension of acceptance in AIDS/HIV positive patients were significantly lower than the norm(P﹤0. 01);the scores in the dimension of avoidance and yield were significantly higher than the norm(P﹤0. 01). Conclusion:The AIDS/HIV positive patients cannot accept the reality of suffering from the disease and they usually adopt the coping style of avoidance and yield. The coping style they take is not conducive to improving treatment compliance and quality of life and to prolonging survival time.
