Abstract:Objective:To explore the application of Y - type indwelling needle instead of modified Seldinger puncture technique in PICC and investigate its effect. Methods:110 cancer patients were randomly divided into the experimental group(n = 58)and the control group (n = 52). Y - type indwelling needle was used in the experimental group and the modified Seldinger puncture technique was used in the control group. The one time success rate of puncture, the incidence of mechanical phlebitis, infection rate after catheterization, volume of bleeding during puncturing, operation time and cost were compared between the two groups. Results:The one time success rate of puncture was higher in the experimental group than the control group(P ﹤ 0. 05);the incidence of mechanical phlebitis and puncture costs were lower in the experimental group than the control group(P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusion:Y - type indwelling needle used for PICC puncture has the advantages of simple operation, high one time success rate, low cost, low incidence of mechanical phlebitis, short operation time and less volume of bleeding.
