Prenatal comprehensive intervention and postpartum fol ow-up in 138 parturients with gestational diabetes mel itus

Abstract:Objective:To explore the nursing methods of prenatal comprehensive intervention and postpartum follow-up in parturients with gestational diabetes mellitus( GDM) .Methods:138 parturients with GDM diagnosed in the outpatient of obstetrics of our hospital( Jan. to Dec.2009) were taken as the intervention group and the parturients in this group were given prenatal comprehensive nursing intervention and postpartum follow-up for one year;other 126 parturients with GDM diagnosed in the outpatient of obstetrics of our hospital(Jan.to Dec.2007)were taken as the control group and routine nursing measures were taken in this group.Results:The incidence of pregnancy-induced hypertension,postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal asphyxia was significantly lower in the intervention group than that in the con-trol group( P<0.05);the postpartum follow-up rate was significantly higher in the intervention group than the control group( P<0.05);the rate of abnormal glucose metabolism of the patients was significantly lower in the intervention group than the control group after postpar-tum follow-up for half a year and one year(P<0.05).Conclusion:Paying attention to screening on GDM and taking comprehensive nurs-ing interventions can effectively improve the pregnancy outcome and life quality of parturients with GDM.
