Impact of dietary guidance and health education on gestational diabetic patients

Abstract:Objective:To explore the impact of dietary guidance and health education on patients with gestational diabetes mellitus ( GDM) in order to provide basis for comprehensive prevention and control of the disease .Methods:60 GDM patients were given individu-alized dietary guidance ,lifestyle intervention ,health education and psychological care .The change of blood glucose level and patient's grasp of relevant knowledge about the prevention and control of the disease were compared before and after the intervention .Results:After the in-tervention,the fasting blood glucose level and 2 h postprandial blood glucose level were (5.40 ±0.54) mmol/L and (7.22 ±1.17)mmol/L(P<0.05);the up-to-standard rate of grasping GDM related knowledge was 100%and grasping diet and exercise related knowledge was 81.7%(P<0.05).Conclusion:The dietary guidance in early pregnant stage is the key to the prevention of GDM .The individualized dietary guidance in community health management can effectively control blood glucose level and reduce the adverse pregnancy outcome in GDM patients .
