Inventory survey on the quality of life in patients with OSAS
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the current situation of the quality of life in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome ( OSAS) and its influencing faotors.Methods:The health survey short form(SF-36)was used to make an assessment of the quality of life of 47 pa-tients with OSAS,and the survey results of the OSAS patients in different ages and body mass indexes (BMI)were compared.Results:RP, BP,GH,VT,SF and RE scores of OSAS patients were lower than the norm (P<0.05);the scores of life quality were significantly lower in the patients over 60 years old than the patients from 16 to 35 and from 36 to 60 years old(P<0.05);the scores of life quality were signifi-cantly lower in the patients whose BMI was more than 24 than the patients less than 24(P<0.05).Conclusion:The quality of life in pa-tients with OSAS was lower than that in healthy people .The age and BMI are the most important influencing factors ,so the active treatment under the guidance can improve the life quality of patients with OSAS .
