Abstract:Objective:To explore the influence of the start time to take food on the postoperative patients after surgery under spinal anes -thesia.Methods:60 postoperative patients who received spinal anesthesia were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group (30 cases in each group). The patients were required to take food according to the routine requirements after spinal anesthesia sur -gery in the control group;the patients in the observation group were encouraged to take food when they reached the awakening standard from anesthesia ,they had recovery of bowel sound and they wanted to eat something .The status of thirst ,hunger ,nausea and vomiting of the postoperative patients were observed in the two groups .Results:The thirsty cases were fewer in the observation group than the control group within 6 hours after operation (P<0.05);the time to drink water after operation was earlier in the observation group than the control group (P<0.01);the exhaust time was earlier in the observation group than the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion:Taking food is safe and feasible in 2 to 6 hours after surgery if the postoperative patients who undergo spinal anesthesia surgery meet the demand of standard of tak -ing food, thus the patient comfort can be improved .
