Research on the Fluctuation Characteristics and Countermeasures of Pork Prices in China

Abstract：As the most important meat product for Chinese residents,pork price fluctuations directly affect the Consumer Price Index(CPI)and residents'living costs,thereby impacting people's livelihood and macroeconomic stability.This study employed the X-12 seasonal adjustment method and the Hodrick-Prescott(H-P)filter to analyze the characteristics and patterns of China's live pig market price fluctuations from January 2020 to April 2025.The results revealed that these fluctuations exhibit cyclical patterns(the"pig cycle"),seasonal variations,and irregular movements.Based on the identified cyclical characteristics,this paper proposes effective pathways and policy recommendations for stabilizing China's live pig market.
