Abstract：Corals and coral reefs represent the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on Earth,playing a crucial role in promoting the sustainable utilization of marine fishery resources and facilitating the high-quality development of coastal recreational fisheries.Using Jiaowei Township in Xuwen County—a demonstration zone for coral reef conservation—as a case study,this paper analyzes the challenges associated with the scientific utilization of coral resources for developing local recreational fisheries.Accordingly,we propose a series of strategies to foster high-quality development in the recreational fisheries of the South China Sea.These strategies include adhering to new development concepts for the scientific utilization of coral resources,as well as intensifying the development of fishing and coral culture to establish a distinctive coral-themed cultural tourism industry.
