Abstract:The transfer of agricultural land is a crucial strategy to address the issues of non-food and non-agricultural use of arable land in China. The decision-making process for land transfer follows a fundamental logic of"environment-willingness-action",yet existing studies have largely overlooked the dynamic changes in farmers'willingness to transfer land. This study employs the Theory of Planned Behavior(TPB)to construct a theoretical framework for analyzing the factors influencing farmers'land transfer intentions, using data from 475 samples across eight cities in Guangdong Province.A structural equation model(SEM)is employed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms. The findings indicate that behavioral attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control have positive and significant effects on farmers'intentions to transfer land.Additionally, farmers'dependence on land and their attitudes toward the land market significantly influence their transfer intentions.Subjective norms play a particularly strong role in shaping these intentions. Moreover, the perceived control over land transfer intentions increases with the degree of off-farming activities within the household. These conclusions offer valuable policy insights for optimizing the allocation of agricultural land resources and promoting agricultural modernization in grain-producing regions.
