Analysis on EU’s Voluntary Standards of Agricultural Products

Abstract：EU has a very complicated legal system about agricultural products standards. The current voluntary standards cover a large range of agricultural products. Although they are voluntarily implemented, they are in practice quasi-mandatory. And compared with mandatory standards, voluntary ones might put heavier burden to exporters and producers of agricultural products. Moreover, as voluntary standards cannot be bound by WTO rules, it is more dififcult to do with them. As a result, among all the standards, voluntary standards should be paid especially attention to study.
