Microclimates and Designs of Urban Residential Areas in Hot-humid Region

Abstract:Taking Guangzhou, a typical city in hot-humid region, as an example, this paper conducts field measurements in two representative urban residential areas in the summer sunny days, and obtains the distribution maps of the microclimates in these areas. Combined with the designs of buildings, greenery and waterscape, this paper analyzes the relationships between microclimates and designs, and provides useful guidance and suggestions for optimizing the microclimatic designs of the urban residential areas in hot-humid region.
