Module or Modelling? The Reflection on the Construction Meaning of Module System in the Western Classical Architecture and Ancient Chinese Architecture

Abstract：Modular system is one of the essential issues in building industrialization. Through analyzing the module of Western Classical architecture and Cai-fen system of ancient Chinese architecture in terms of construction forms, structural features, aesthetic principles and construction significance, and reviewing the evolution and current situation of modular system in of construction practice in China, this paper encouranges rethinking on the operating standards of modular system in China.
