An Analysis on the Embodiments of the Communication between Scholars and Craftsmen in Yingzao Fashi

Abstract：After the founding of the Society for Research in Chinese Architecture with the dedicated efforts made by the researchers, great accomplishments have been achieved in the study on Yingzao Fashi in different aspects during the past century. While the subject of what the contribution been made by Li Mingzhong in the edition of Yingzao Fashi still needs further research, especially the comment on it that can be summarized as "the communication between scholars and craftsmen" made by Zhu Qiqian. Thus this article concentrates on the above comment, discusses the topic of why Li Mingzhong could make efforts to communicate between scholars and craftsmen, and finds out what he had done to communicate between scholars and craftsmen, and finally tries to reveal the Li Mingzhong's contribution which is worthy to be absorbed by the followers.
