The Axial Relationship among South China Historical Trail in Tang and Song Dynasties

Abstract：Tang and Song Dynasties, the period of extraordinary development in Guangdong, had witnessed the gradual rise to maturity of South China historical trail which were the important infrastructure supporting the regional political, economic and social development. During this period, the road system of the South-Southeast lines in Tang Dynasty had gradually evolved into the road system of the hinterland-coastal lines in Song Dynasty.The interactions of different lines have resulted in the profound influence on the development of Guangdong since Tang and Song Dynasties. The axial relationship among South China historical trail in Tang and Song Dynasties reveals the spatial characteristics of the development in ancient Guangdong, which is a useful perspective on the research of the development in ancient Guangdong.
