Transboundary Design in Promoting Activation and Utilization of Historical and Cultural Heritage: Case Study of Taishan Station on the Background of South China Historical Trail Creative Contest

Abstract:The inheritance, development and innovation of the excellent historical and cultural heritage are the main contents of our country's history and culture development. Five Guangdong bureaus hold 'South China Historical Trail Creative Contest' to carry out central government's policy 'inheritance of historical and cultural development'. This creative contest is a platform that is supported by government, organized by local association, based on universities, targeted for villages, advised for cultural by products. Architects, planners and designers try to promote the connection between designs and products using transboundary design methods. This contest is a platform that enhances the connection between the activation of South China Historical Trail's historical & cultural heritage and tourism through public participation. This paper elaborates the tranboundary deisgn as a method to active historical cultural heritage from the perspective of contest organizer. This contest aims to promote countryside economic development, achieving prcised poverty alleviation, create cultural brand and mechanism for activating cultural heritage.
