Characteristic Recognition and Layering Interpretation of Historic Urban & Townish Landscapes in Southwest China

Abstract：Based on integrated cohesion and historic layering perspectives of Historic Urban Landscape(HUL),the article systematically classifies the landscape elements and carriers of the historic urban and town landscapes of southwest China. Taken the industrial, commercial, military, political, religious and ethnic factors as influencing clues, the article further discusses the regional characteristic and historic layering process of this area by pattern relationship, cluster shape, street texture and landmark feature analysis, then develops an adaptive conservation aim and strategy.
