Discussion of the Ritual and Space in Xiqin Guild Hall Theater Based on Trade Gods Worship

Abstract：Xiqin guild hall of Zigong is the typical representative of guild theaters in Sichuan and Chongqing, it has both fellow villagers and fellow traders halls features. Xiqin guild hall is built by Salt merchants from Shanxi Province in Qing dynasty.The guild hall has grand scale, beautiful Stage, perfect space and so on.However, the relationship between ritual and space is overlooked more or less during the practical research.The main activities and characters of the building are collected by publication reading and field studying. We try to explore the relationship between ritual and space under the trade gods worship through its spatial design and holding ritual activities in festival. in order to show the cultural characteristics and evolution process as well as intrinsic motivation of the hall theater in this area.
