Recreation Constraints and Planning Countermeasures:A Case Study of Suzhou

Abstract：This paper analyzes three factors constraining individuals' recreation activities:lack of recreational education, inadequacy of personal recreation resource, and existing problems in recreation places and facilities. The city of Suzhou is taken as an example to demonstrate the fol owing planning countermeasures of recreation constraints: conducting recreation survey, improving recreation planning, securing recreation supporting system, and designing recreation activity programs. This paper concludes that the urban-rural recreation planning deserves more attention than just physical planning. Recreation-related leisure education and introduction of recreation events should also be actively planned in order to activate recreation behaviors in specific areas.
