The Sustainable Rationality in Urban Planning and Design

Abstract：AbSTRAcT This paper is based on the basic understanding of the transformations in urban-rural planning ideology and methodology. It analyzes the core of rationality in each transformation, the rationally cognitive process and the goal of planning transformations. The paper reveals that with the historic opportunities brought by demands of the new macro social-economic development, the dilemma facing Western rationalization modes, and the technological support of big data, intelligence, cloud-computing and mobile internet, the ideology and methodology of urban-rural planning should undergo sustainable and rationalization transformation, which is directed towards the fusion of the sustainability and rationality-centered ideology in traditional Chinese culture, and which would trigger the rationalization of urban planning tools in the era of big-data, inteligence, cloud computing and mobile internet.
