Urban Park Configurational Attributes Analysis Based on Convex Map and Axial Map

Abstract：Urban park configurational characteristics can significantly influence users' distribution and recreation experience. Research addressing urban park configuraitonal attributes could provide direct basis and implications to park design practice, recreational facilities and activities provision and usage management. However, existing studies discuss park configuraiotnal attributes only at local and qualitative level, quantitative examinations at global level are lacking. Based on convex map analysis and axial map analysis in space syntax theory, this study proposes an approach to measure urban park configurational attributes. Taking Huangxing Park in Shanghai as an example, measurements such as integration and connectivity are computed.
