Analysis on lmagery Design and Multi-layers Expression in Architecture Design

Abstract：There has been some spirit named “idea-image”, imagery design, which influences the process of architectural design, especialy in eastern culture context, particularly in China. Based on the analysis and case studies of some famous architecture projects, both indigenous and international, this paper aims to summarize the origin of the “idea-image” design, to tel the true meaning of the method, and also to distinguish its definition among bionic architecture, symbolic architecture, and artistic conception of architecture. The findings of the study are proposed to provide examples for the future practice of the idea-image design of architecture.
