Architectural Form Analysis from the Perspective of Grey System Theory：A Case Study of Traditional Buildings in Southern Yunnan

Abstract：Since 1980's the grey system theory has been influential theory about imformation quanlity and quantity, and well-known for the application in various disciplines and fields. Based on the grey system theory, the paper looks over the architecture area with the characteristics of fuzziness and uncertainty, and discusses the determinants of "grey" in architecture and the "grey" form of buildings from the aspects of space making, body shaping, function using and material application. The implication of the design idea and the construction principles have been explored and the theory on architecture design has been implicited by the prespective of grey system theory.
