When Boutique Hotel Meets Traditional Local-style Dwelling Houses

Abstract：With the booming tourism industry in China, the classification of hotels had become more and more refined on functions. With more boutique hotels emerging, the characteristics of boutique hotel are pursuing innovative, unique and individualize service. Furthermore most of them are trying to represent local culture by a traditional architecture style. This paper conducts case study in Beijing, Hangzhou and Lijiang to examine the ways how boutique hotels learn from traditional dwelings on expressing local culture. The study aims to help the design of boutique hotels with more expression on local traditional culture.
