Comparative Study on the Aesthetic Culture of Emigrants’ Dwellings in Modern Xiamen and Shantou

Abstract：The aesthetic culture of emigrants’ dwellings in Modern Xiamen and Shantou presented a different trend under different historical condition; one in Xiamen is drove by external forces and the one in Shantou is drove by internal effects. Differentiation and integration of the two aesthetic cultures had been found out during the process of cultural exchange of Chinese and foreign architectural aesthetic culture. ln the differentiation of aesthetic culture, the difference between hedonism and pragmatism had been showed. ln the integration of aesthetic culture, the difference between outgoing compatibility and internal improvement had been indicated.
