Discussions on Main Participation Bodies and their Role Changes in Community Planning

Abstract:abstract This paper explores the main participation bodies and their roles in community planning. Firstly, this paper summarizes the experiences of community planning in the United States, Britain and Taiwan region. It then makes a further discussion on the local community planning, and argues that community planning needs to involve different participation bodies based on the existing urban planning system. The government needs to change from a dominant position to act as a guide, the community needs to become the main actor, planner needs to more involve in the role of organizer and communicator, and non-governmental organizations are welcome to participate.
