New Ideas of Urban Design Studies towards New-type Urbanization

Abstract：abstract Under the background of new-type urbanization, how to adapt to the new requirements is a valuable topic for urban design. This paper reviews the two phases of urban design in China, such as the period between 2000 and 2007, and the period between 2008 and 2014. It then puts forward several new ideas for further study, such as clarifying the objectives of the urban design discipline, strengthening the urban design for small towns, reinforcing the urban spatial experiences, improving urban design implementation and evaluation, and so on.
