The Reconstruction of Traditional Workshop: the Preservation and Revitalization of Chenlu Town

Abstract：ChenLu is a distinctive settlement with a long pottery tradition from Song-Yuan period,there are plenty of important kiln sites. The pottery industry has been in decline since last century as the movement of people-community began.With mass labor losing,the local pottery-making tradition is endangered, the protection and development of ChenLu trapped in trouble. This article focus on the renaissance of ChenLu and discusses the appropriate planning design. Based on the unique advantage of its pottery resources, the design work started from the living unit reconstruction ,in which the industry development factor of production,living,culture was integrated . We hope to find the model for the ancient town, which can support the active transition of pottery industry, thus to arouse the dynamic of the industry development, and to reignite the firelight of the pottery.
