Public Housing Tenant’s Characteristics and Public Housing Upgrading Strategy in the Yangzhou Old Town Area

Abstract：Public housing is an important part of the urban social welfare system, and it is of great significance to urban housing security and social justice. In this paper, we review relevant policies and institutions relating to public housing provision and construction, from home and abroad. Based on a large-scale household survey conducted in the old town area of Yangzhou City, we analyze public housing tenants' economic, social and demographic characteristics, housing condition status, and their inclinations concerning housing upgrading. Referring to the results of survey data analysis, we summarize the common problems faced by public housing in China, and propose relevant strategies for public housing upgrading in Yangzhou.
