Response to Megalopolis’ Comprehensive City Planning for a “Sponge City”

Abstract：The national strategy to build "Sponge City" made claims on the content of the comprehensive city planning. Based on the research and practice of building sponge city in China and oversea, this paper raised three main approaches. Refer to the problem of deficient response to this strategy in the current megalopolis comprehensive planning, the paper addressed the issue from three aspects: the comprehensive planning outline and special subjects, the urban system planning, and the central area planning. At last, it has been pointed out that more work is required to make guidelines for different cities, on more subject planning and on management of planning implementation.
