How to Teach Building Technology Courses：A Study of Educational Reform on Building Service Systems

Abstract：There are many discussions about how to teach buildings technology courses in architectural schools. For example, who should teach them? What should be taught? What is the relationship between building technology teaching and architectural practice? What are effective teaching models that place building technology in the center of design discourse? This paper introduced an experimental teaching reform of ‘Building Services System’ course in School of Architecture and Urban planning, Nanjing University . The major problems of the teaching reform are analyzed. The purpose of this teaching experiment seeks to engage educators in this field in lively discourse about technical teaching in order to educate the next generation of architects in China.
